Fourteen floors above the city, this residence opens up to sweeping city views, letting the surroundings set the tone
At its heart, is a 9.5 ft tall sculptural ceramic tree. A translation of the eternal cycle of life. It anchors the common areas with profound symbolic weight. Born from a collaboration with artist S Gopinath, this centerpiece called the ‘Tree of Life’, becomes a living metaphor for growth and connection.
Each leaf, individually crafted in ceramic and suspended by copper veins, catches and fragments light mirroring nature's inherent complexity. The fiberglass trunk and branches rise with deliberate grace, ensuring ample clearance for human movement while creating an intimate grove within the home's centre.
The material vocabulary is a sophisticated palette of whites and greys allowing for wood, fabric and color accents to breathe and hone their place. Furniture selections span centuries and continents, a 19th-century Kurdish rug grounds the coffee bar with its ancient stories, while contemporary pieces from diverse design houses create unexpected dialogues across time and culture.
Spatial delineation occurs through subtle design gestures rather than heavy-handed divisions. A minimal metal screen, with integrated double doors, divides the larger living area and intimate family spaces. Glass panels within this partition ensure light's continuous flow while maintaining visual connection while offering a sense of separation.
The overall design language employs strategic deceptions to enhance spatial perception. Doors stretch from floor to ceiling, their surfaces matched seamlessly to grey wallpaper, making them vanish into the walls like hidden passages. This attention to continuity and concealment reinforces the overall sense of uninterrupted calm.
