The residence has been designed as a choreography of rooms with distinct narratives, unified as one composition by an underlying thread of artistry. The approach was deliberately eclectic to allow the client's passion for colour and pattern to find expression.
Stepping through, the entertainment zone reveals itself as a singular volume thoughtfully subdivided by a custom metal screen. It delineates yet connects the living and dining areas. Detailed with intricate black and white marble inlay work the dining table stands as a defining centerpiece.
The bar unit is masterfully embedded within the wall plane. Its presence is recognised by a wallpaper by Toile Indienne, titled ‘Draupadi ka Swayamvar’. When opened, deep crimson shelves create a dramatic backdrop for a collection of spirits from around the world. Functional storage is turned into a display of personal passion.
The guest bedroom is an ode to traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship through the integration of a four-century-old Thikri glass panel behind the bed. Crafted entirely from waste marble from the flooring process, the headboard demonstrates resourceful thinking.
Emerging from the client's love for cerulean hues is the family room, also called the ‘Blue Room’. Deep indigo walls with antique blue and white Chinoiserie ceramics add layers of depth to the space.
The study boasts a built-in unit that accommodates both work and leisure activities. The shutters feature hand-crafted wooden spindles arranged as louvers. The space grounds itself through an aged kilim rug whose weathered patterns speak of decades of usage and stories. The master suite prioritizes pale tones and subtle textures creating minimal clutter and a soothing atmosphere. The bathroom continues this philosophy while introducing detailed woodwork adding warmth to the pared down palette.
